Process for District Judge in Nepal
1. Citizenship:
The candidate must be a Nepali citizen.
2. Educational Qualification:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a
recognized institution.
3. Experience or Service Criteria:
20% of
positions:
filled from among gazette (राजपत्रित) second-class officers of the
judicial service who have served for at least three years, based on seniority,
qualification, and competency evaluation.
40% of positions : filled through open competitive examination from judicial service
officers holding a law degree with a minimum of three years of service.
Remaining 40% of positions: filled through open competition from Nepali citizens who:
• Have practiced as an Advocate for at least 8 years,
or
• Have served 8 years in a gazetted post in the judicial service, or
• Have worked for 8 years in legal education, research, or
judicial/legal fields.
